Surgical procedures are scheduled Monday through Friday. Surgical patients are checked in between 7:30am and 8:30am on the morning of surgery. For dogs and cats, withhold food after 9:00pm the night prior to scheduled surgery. Water should be available at all times. Exotic pets do not have the same pre-surgical requirements as dogs and cats; ask our staff about special feeding or pre-anesthetic preparations.
Anesthesia is closely monitored by licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs) using heart monitors, pulse oximeter monitors, temperature probes, and blood pressure measurements. For added safety, we routinely provide intravenous catheters and IV fluid therapy for all general anesthetic patients. Pre-surgical blood work is advised for any pet undergoing general anesthesia. We may also recommend pre-surgical chest x-rays and an EKG. Please discuss your pet’s individualized needs with one of our veterinarians.
